Updated: Apr 10, 2022

Have you ever learned the process of breaking down a painful thought?

Here are a few navigational ways in which to eradicate those pesky ways of thinking.

Painful thinking can show show up in different ways. Self-doubt and worry are two of the most common forms of painful thinking. Here are a few others: regret, obsession anad certain kinds of fantasy or vengeful thinking. I know I have thought about and worse yet, acted upon a few of those .

Here are the 5 steps for unpacking and framing up a painful thought.

  1. Find the area of low satisfaction.

  2. Find the motivation between the action and behaviour.

  3. Identify the thought or belief that is driving the behaviour.

  4. Engage in understanding how this thought or belief impacts you.

  5. Use a form of inquiry to detach from the thought and create an alternative story.

My favorite quote is by Maya Angelou, " When you know better, do better."

Know that you know better, how are you going to do better?

Remember: when we value ourselves, we value each other.
